Future Couple?

Yesterday my friend Shellie and her kids came to visit. Shellie's daughter Kelsey had a little boy names Kaiden last month. He is so stinkin cute. Right now he is 6 lbs. 15 ounces. You wouldn't think that a pound would be that much of a difference, but he looks HUGE compared to Sophia. They will be cute little friends and who knows maybe one day.....:)

Little Miss Sophialyn

I didn't think I would be writing this post for another couple of weeks, but Sophialyn had her own idea of things. The past 3 doctors appointments we had gone to, she was measuring small which concerned my midwife. We were at the every 2 week mark at that point so she told me that if we came in last week and were still small, then we would schedule an ultrasound to see what was going on. Well, needless to say I was small, so we scheduled an ultrasound for Tuesday the 20th. The day was supposed to go like this: go to the ultrasound, go back home get all of our things, go to my store to finish up a couple of things for work and make our way to St. George for Justin to attend work training and for me and Broc to play. Our last vacation BEFORE Sophia came. Well, we go get the ultrasound done and the doctor comes in to look at things, and had 2 concerns. He fluid level was only at a 6.38. It is supposed to be at least at a 20, and she had fluid around her heart. Had it been one or the other, we would have just watched it or delivered by the weekend. Since it was both, she sent us straight to Orem Community to have a baby. I cried for a few different reasons. One I was not ready yet to add to our family. I hadn't gone shopping yet for the essentials, ie clothes, diapers etc. (She does have plenty of shoes however) and two I had things at work I needed to finish up before I went on leave. We get to the hospital, and immediately get settled in. The midwife on call didn't necessarily want to start straight with the pitossin, so we went a different route to soften my cervix. I sat with that for 15 hours and it did nothing. At 4:30 am on the 21st, she removed the device, and we checked my cervix. I had only dilated to a 3. She felt to feel the baby and rather than feel a head down, she felt limbs. We did an ultrasound and Sophia was transverse, meaning she was angled in my belly. The nurse alerted our midwife who came in to double check and sure enough, transverse. She then called the doctor who came in and looked at things to figure out what route to take. We decided to try to turn her so we could still deliver normally. She was able to get her to turn, however Sophia turned right back to the transverse position. She got her to turn again but thins time she turned and had her arm above her head. At that point we had 2 options. We could start the pitossin and still attempt the delivery and run the risk of temporary damage to her nerves or even permanent damage, or we have a c section. She left it up to me. I didn't want to run the risk of anything else so I opted for the c section. It was amazing at how fast everything happened. They got the operating room prepped, got Justin ready and rolled me in to get me prepped. I got in at 8:45 and between prep and cut, Sophialyn was born at 9:04am. She weighed 5 lbs. 15 ounces and was 19 inches long. She is perfect. Come to find out I made the right decision on the c section because when they were working on getting her out she was moving and she ended up coming out feet first. She is one stubborn little girl. WE are so grateful that she is here safe, happy and healthy. Who needs St. George when you get to have a baby instead? Broc is still a little unsure, but even now he is being protective and if she cries, he is right on top of it to make sure she is happy. I am so grateful for my midwife who paid attention and got us into the ultrasound and grateful to the doctors who delivered her. We have a miracle baby, because had we not had the care or intuition, we would have most likely lost her. Instead I have a mini Broc and could not be happier. :)

Elder Critchlow Made It

My cute brother is officially a greenie!! He arrived in Mexico yesterday to begin the next step in his mission. His mission president seems really cool. Colton's companion is a Mexican who is the best in the zone from what I have been told. We got to talk to Colton on the phone before he flew out yesterday morning. I am so proud of my little brother and know that he will do great things down in Cuernavaca.

Our Long Easter Weekend

Pictures are backwards. Sorry.
For Easter this year, we had a weekend of festivities that started on Thursday. Thursday night we colored eggs. Broc thought that was the coolest thing to see the eggs change. Friday night we made rice crispie flowers to share. Broc enjoyed eating them more than making them. Saturday I worked all day and then met up with Justin's family for dinner and the kids Easter egg hunt. It's not really a hunt as much as a pick up the eggs from the lawn. Broc loves getting to play with his cousins and this year he was into looking for the eggs. We then met up with my mom in Bountiful to get Broc to Ogden for the night. Justin and I had tickets for the morning session of conference (which was amazing I might add) so Broc slept over at my sister's and the Easter Bunny found him there. He loved his basket and was so excited. Baby Sophia even got a basket of goodies. Thanks Easter Bunny. After conference we drove north to go to dinner at my uncle's and have yet another Easter egg hunt. I am so glad though that I got to start the morning at conference. It was such an amazing feeling and just so great to remember Him on that special day. That was the only session I got to listen to thanks to work and other things and it was so much better being there. So thanks Craig and Nicole for letting us come with you. I am so grateful for the Easter season. For the atonement and resurrection and everything that Easter stands for. It was a fantastic weekend and a nice reminder of things. I hope everyone had as nice of a Easter as we did. :)

Hidden Blessings

Last night I got a phone call from my sister at 1:00 in the morning. I am used to randomly getting calls from my family of night owls so I was irritated but this one was different. She was crying and I knew something was up. Well, my parents house caught on fire last night. It luckily was all contained in the garage but my parents and brother are now out of sorts for a few months. I am so grateful that my parents stay up late at times and watch movies because that is was turned what could have been a tragedy into only a disaster. My mom went to go to the restroom so my dad went upstairs to use the one by the kitchen. He came out and noticed red coming from the garage so he opened the door only to find the garage engulfed in flames. He ran downstairs and told my mom to get out and woke my brother up. Then for some dumb reason he turned on the air conditioner. The entire house has smoke and water damage. Everything in the garage is pretty much gone. The house got boarded up as well. They are without home for 2 to 6 months while they come in and restore and fix everything. My mom feels bad for the fact that she tries to be a good person ie go to church, pay her tithing, follow the commandments, that type of thing and then this happens. Well the way I see it, is because she does all of those things, more damage wasn't done and no one was hurt or killed. This is just one more trial to get through but the Lord never gives us more than we can handle. And on another plus side, I guess it's another blessing in disguise as in my dad will get his house remodel done a little bit faster than he had planned. There has to be some optimism somewhere in all of this right?

The Top 10 Reasons Why I Love My Little Boy

I am a random person lately and have just been thinking about the things in my life. Our family is going to grow in 6 weeks and it has made me stop and think about my little boy and how much fun we have with him. Broc is at an age where he wants to know what's going on with everything. I am so in love with my little man who is slowly becoming a big boy. Here are some reasons why I love my little boy.
1. I love that he gets excited when I come home from work and gives me a big hug. "Is that my mom?" Melts my heart every time.
2. He calls Justin my hunny and tells me where my hunny is at all times.
3. He loves to help his dad feed the animals.
4. He loves to play basketball in the family room.
5. He is a mama's boy all the way. LOVE IT!!
6. He will randomly stop whatever we are doing and tell us to fold our arms and close our eyes so that we can say a prayer to Jesus.
7. He loves to eat his dinosaur nuggets in his "throne" and watch his shows.
8. He loves to help me bake. His favorite part is mixing with the hand mixer.
9. He is such a BIG helper when we are with my nephew Ryland. It makes me realize that he is going to be a great big brother to baby girl.
And the number 10 reason why I love my little boy.....
He is just a character to be around and grows more and more everyday.
